Whether it’s a night on the town or something you do at home that’s special and out of the ordinary, it’s important that you always “date” your partner or spouse. You want your wife or partner to feel special and like you’ve thought of them, especially when romance otherwise gets lost in the hustle and bustle of daily life.
The following are some tips and ideas to make your wife or partner feel special and like you’ve gone above and beyond to make them happy.
Plan a Wine and Painting Date Night
If you have a nearby wine-and-painting studio, it’s an excellent place for a date night. You’re creating memories, stepping outside of your comfort zones together, and doing something unique. You’ll also have something to take with you when you’re done, as a memento.
You can take a class with a group, or for something more intimate, you can have an instructor teach you how to make a work of art one-on-one.
Whenever you can go outside of what you typically do for date nights, it’ll show that you’ve given it thought and put some planning into it.
When you step outside of your comfort zones together, it’ll help you grow as a couple.
Even if you try something new and find you don’t both love it, that’s okay. It doesn’t mean the experience was a waste.
Another to plan something outside the box and show your partner you care is to get outdoors and be adventurous. For example, maybe you plan a day where you rock-climb or white water raft, depending on where you live.
Having thrills together is a good bonding experience.
You need to think about your partner’s general disposition and interests because not all adventurous activities will be a good fit for every person.
Hire a Photographer
Your partner may love the idea of having photos taken, but perhaps you never do it as a couple. You may have never had professional photos taken. You can arrange to have a photographer do a photoshoot of the two of you, or maybe the entire family.
Arrange a Spa Day
Maybe your wife isn’t someone who loves outdoor adventures, so you’re not so sure about planning anything along those lines. There are still plenty of ways to make her feel special.
A spa day is a good one, and it’s something you can do as a couple.
You can call local spas and see what types of couples packages they offer. Most offer something along these lines.
Do Something Playful and Lighthearted
If you’re trying to think of ways to spend time together outside of the norm, consider what you liked to do when you were younger. Sometimes, the best dates are simple and take us back to a time before careers and kids.
For example, you can go ice-skating or bowling. These are low-expectation, breezy things to do together where you can laugh and enjoy each other’s company without a lot of added expectations or pressure.
Figure Out Your Partner’s Love Language
It sounds cliché, but love languages are a real thing, and when you can figure out what your partner’s is, you can make them feel special regularly in the ways they prefer.
For example, for some people, quality time or touch is their love language. With that in mind, you could plan an evening where you stay home and watch a movie just the two of you, uninterrupted. You can put your phones away and just be together.
Another love language is words of affirmation. If this is your partner’s preference, maybe think about writing a letter to let them know how they’ve made your life better.
For other people, their love language is gifts. It doesn’t have to be an extravagant or expensive gift—just something meaningful.
Finally, acts of service are also a love language. If this is your partner’s, you might want to take care of chores that she usually handles around the house so she can relax or do something she enjoys.
Overall, the biggest thing to remember if you want to make your partner feel special is to think of them in your actions and plan something that gets you out of your routine or rut whenever you have the chance.
You don’t have to spend a lot of money to do this—it is the thought that’s important.
