A week or two ago we had the opportunity to attend the Vancouver Writers & Readers Festival “A Dram Come True” single malt tasting event. The event was held in a Shaughnessy heritage home in Vancouver. There was an incredible selection of single malt whiskies on hand, and all proceeds went to support the festival. The event’s tastings included, for instance, Duncan Taylor Caol Ila 1981 27 Year Old, Port Ellen Old Malt Cask 25 Year Old, Murray McDavid Mission Series Glen Spey 1974, and more. The entire tasting list is available here. We managed to sample the majority of the available whiskies, and finished off the night by enjoying the fine weather with a dram and a cigar. All in all a very enjoyable evening. As we sort through our notes from that evening, expect some reviews of the many fine malts we tasted to appear in the coming weeks. Until then, here’s a little taste of how the night went down.
