My Keto Shopping List

Early this year, a friend introduced me to the ketogenic lifestyle and its wonderful health benefits. Then, I began my search for the ultimate keto shopping list. My giddiness to start a “new me” after indulging myself over the holidays was the primary reason I rushed to the grocery store early one morning. I brought a copy of the first keto shopping list started purchasing every item on it.

It is with a great shame to admit that most of the items I bought that day went to waste.

Over the course of my keto experience, I have just about tried every keto shopping list available online. In my hopes to avoid another shopping disaster, I started crossing off the food items from the keto shopping list that I really don’t plan on eating and added those that I like.

Deciding on what type of food would go into the shopping cart be a struggle for any “keto-er.” More often than not, I find myself staring emptily at grocery aisles, wondering whether a certain food item was keto-friendly.  I kept asking myself how much carb a certain pack of cheese contains.

As I gained more knowledge about keto, I began preparing my personalized keto shopping list.  I also gathered a decent collection of keto recipes, tweaking most of them to my liking. I find it more convenient to plan a week’s worth of meals and snacks before heading to the grocery store. Of course, it may differ from person to person. My friend prefers to do her keto shopping once a month, so it really depends on your schedule, availability, and budget.

Feel free to add more keto-friendly food items or cross off those that you don’t like to create your keto shopping list.

I am a self-confessed meat lover, so I always put my meat choices on top of my keto shopping list. It is also the main reason I didn’t think twice about switching to a ketogenic lifestyle as it doesn’t make me feel guilty when I chomp down a huge slab of steak on paydays.

Keto Cinnamon Coffee

I love this recipe, and I like to add a dash of peppermint on mine.

  • 2 Tbsps of coffee
  • One tsp cinnamon
  • 2 cups water
  • Heavy whip cream

  1. Brew coffee as usual together with the cinnamon.
  2. Using a mixer, whip the cream to medium consistency.
  3. Pour everything into a mug. Add whip cream on top and sprinkle a dust of cinnamon.

Keto Hamburger

Who says you need buns to enjoy hamburger? This bare patty topped with tomato gravy and sautéed vegetable of your choice will satisfy your appetite.

For the hamburger:

  • 1 -2 pounds ground beef
  • An egg
  • 3 ounces of feta cheese
  • A teaspoon of salt
  • Black pepper (ground)
  • Parsley (chopped finely)
  • 1 Tbsp of olive oil
  • ⅙ oz of butter

For the gravy:

  • 1 ¼ cups of heavy whip cream
  • 1 – 2 oz. parsley (chopped coarsely)
  • 2 Tbsps. of tomato paste
  • Salt and pepper according to taste

For the sauteed vegetable:

I like to add mushrooms on mine, but this recipe also works well with shredded cabbage. Just sauté the cabbage using butter and add salt and pepper according to your taste.

  1. Combine all the ingredients to make the hamburger making about 7-8 patties.
  2. In a pan, add butter and olive oil and fry the patties on medium-high heat for 10 minutes until you achieve a nice color.
  3. Add whipping cream and tomato paste into the pan. Stir and let the mixture boil together.
  4. Garnish with chopped parsley.

Keto Shrimp Cocktail

This recipe is super easy to make and is a good appetizer.

  • 2 Tbsps coconut oil
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • Half teaspoon of chili flakes
  • 2 tbsps of parsley (chopped finely)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Half tbsp of tomato paste
  • Half tbsp of lemon juice
  • Hot sauce
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt
  • Pepper

For the dip:

1 cup of mayonnaise

  1. Combine all the ingredients for the dip. Set aside.
  2. In a frying pan, add coconut oil. Smash garlic and add it to the oil.
  3. Add shrimp and fry for a few minutes on both sides until you get a nice pink color.
  4. Add chili flakes, salt, pepper, and parsley.
  5. Serve with the creamy sauce on the side and enjoy.
