A Golden Winter Glow

Dreary grey skies have a habit of getting you down, don’t you agree? The novelty of winter is okay for a few weeks; the snow is exciting at first, and the cold weather makes you want to get all cosy on the sofa with a good book and a roaring fire, but give it a month and you’re dreaming of warmer climes.

If this sounds like your situation, and I’m sure I’m describing reality for quite a few people here, then why not look at booking a cheeky week away somewhere warm and sunny, to beat the winter blues?

Not everywhere in the world is under six feet of snow or freezing during November to March, and you will find some amazing destinations basking in a golden glow if you search for your ideal winter break.

The downside is of course the availability of flights from more regional airports, so you might find that you have to travel a little further to your airport door, but really, it’s not that much of a hardship if you’re heading somewhere exotic!

If you do have to travel to the airport, you can cut down on travelling hours by driving yourself, rather than subjecting yourself to countless hours on an airport bus, or a packed train. This is something I always do, and I regularly book my parking spot with ParkBCP, finding a great rate time and time again. I recently flew from London for a spot of winter sunshine, and I booked stansted airport parking for a bargain-busting price, which made it much cheaper to drive. This is something I would recommend you look into for that airport journey.

Once you’ve picked your destination, it will give you something to look forward to, and get you through the winter darkness. Of course, you could be all spontaneous and book last minute!

The list of destinations you can head to during the winter months depends on what it is you’re wanting, but if it is the chance to lay back on a beach and forget your worries, remembering that summer does exist, then maybe the sun-drenched beaches of Sharm el-Sheik in Egypt could be for you, or Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. If you want to head even further afield, think about the castaway vibe of Cape Verde, or be even more luxurious and head off on a Caribbean cruise!

The onset of winter does not mean holidays have to be suspended until the sun decides to shine again, beat the seasons and find your own spot of winter heat.
