The sight of the Sydney Opera House is one of the most well-known icons in the world, so book tickets for a show there or just snap a photo while you’re on a river cruise. Take in a whale-watching cruise and go up to the Skywalk at the 309m Sydney Tower. For some culture, check out the Royal Botanic Gardens before taking a trip out to the stunning beaches 15 minutes away.

Alice Springs

You can also meet koalas, wombats and kangaroos at Caversham Wildlife Park. The capital of Victoria, Melbourne is located near the southeastern tip of Australia. The city is best known for its culture – it’s full of fine dining options, cool cafes, interesting galleries and independent bookshops, not to mention the original architecture and vast range of events. Outside the city itself you can find rugged coastlines, excellent wineries, ski slopes and even the outback, but if you’d rather keep to an urban landscape there’s plenty to see. There’s a wide range of festivals and art exhibitions going on at all times of year and no matter what time of day it is, you’ll be able to find a dining option that suits you down to the ground.
