How To Combat Signs Of Aging

Aging is a fact of life. We all do it, and unfortunately we all suffer the effects of it as well. But it’s not all doom and gloom. There are plenty of ways that you can care for yourself and at the same time, fight the signs of aging. We’ve gathered together some of the best ways to combat these signs below.

Cosmetic Surgery

Perhaps one of the least popular but effective options would be some form of cosmetic alteration. While plastic surgery – such as a facelift or tummy tuck – is certainly an option for anyone that may be interested and can afford the procedures, there are more subtle procedures that companies such as Longevita offer. Something as simple as a hair transplant for anyone suffering from hair loss, or cosmetic dentistry in the form of implants, crowns, veneers or teeth whitening can both prove to make more of a difference than you’d expect.

Infographic created by Dr. Douglas Steinbrech about gynecomastia, visualizes some of the statistics, facts and available treatments for men. Also know as man boobs, it is the enlargement of the glandular tissue of the male breast. Gynecomastia is the fourth most commonly requested plastic surgery procedure form men. Thousands of men have suffered for years with shame and embarrassment from gynecomastia in NYC. This enlarged tissue could easily be confused with fatty tissue, commonly being referred to as “man boobs.” This condition can create serious self-esteem and body issues within a man, in turn severely affecting his social and personal life. Male breast enlargement causes more complications than just low self-esteem and embarrassment. It can be very painful, causing chronic pain and discomfort, leaving painful lumps and open sores under the nipple. Symptoms often start with breast development and lead to bloody nipple discharge and tenderness, leaving men very confused about what is going on with their bodies.

Exercise

However, not everyone can afford or even wants to tackle plastic surgery as an option. Luckily, there are plenty of natural ways to fight the signs and risks of aging too. Exercise is perhaps one of the most important, helping you avoid both visual and internal signs of aging. Keeping in shape can not only keep you looking younger, but can have health benefits. A healthy body is less likely to suffer from heart problems, respiratory problems and more.

But be careful when you’re exercising. Joining a gym or exercising indoors can benefit your skin by avoiding the sun, as much as the exercise itself can. The sun is harsh on skin as a whole, but while sweating your skin is at even more risk to the effects of the sun’s harsh UV rays.

Skincare

Moisturizing and exfoliating can do wonders for combat the signs of action. Using a moisturiser every day and a gentle cleanser to accompany it can help you fight dryness and wrinkles. Exfoliation helps remove any dead skin, leaving your skin looking and feeling much smoother and younger than it would without. Avoid hot water, however, as the heat can irritate skin and strip too many natural oils.

Eat and Drink Right

This one might sound like a given, but I’s an important one all the same. Drinking plenty of water keeps you hydrated and ultimately benefits your skin and how it looks. Your body is 70% water, after all, and you lose around 30% during the day simply through natural bodily functions like urinating or sweating. Drinking plenty of water helps you replace the lost water which ultimately helps flush out harmful waste. Where food is concerned, the advice is fairly simple. Avoid processed foods, and try and cater your diet to ensure you are getting all of the vitamins and nutrients that you need for a balanced diet. Each nutrient can help fight a different sign of aging, including protection against UV cell damage, antioxidants that encourage regeneration of skin cells, and skin elasticity from Vitamin C.
