Valentine’s Day approaches on February 14th and that means the shops are stocked full of red roses, boxes of chocolates and other classic Valentine gifts – often at an inflated price. Try buying a bunch of red roses the week after Valentine: you will pay a quarter or even half less than just before the day. And such presents are nice, but they don’t last. That’s why a coffee maker is what the astute man is buying for his lady (and vice-versa) this Valentine’s Day.
Now buying a coffee machine might seem like a strange thing to buy your loved one at Valentine’s Day. And if they are a 100% tea drinker, then yes it would be a weird present. But if they enjoy good coffee, drink plenty of it or enjoy varieties and different styles, then these are all reasons to consider it for the present.
The coffee maker that has caught the eye during my research is the Keurig K-Select. Obviously, this uses the Keurig coffee pods (more on them in a minute) so that means there’s plenty of range. But there’s one feature that quickly caught my attention – the strong brew option. If you like your coffee stronger than average, as we both do, then this is a useful automatic setting.

Stand out features
The Keurig machine itself is a sensible size – you don’t feel as if you need to own and run and café to have it. At 12.5 inches in height by 9.2 inches wide and 11.6 inches deep it is a comfortable counter topu size and you can even get it in a rich vintage red shade to match the occasion.
There are four different sizes of drink you can program into it from six to 12 ounces so there’s your ‘quick I’m running late’ size through to your ‘relax and watch the morning news’ size. You can also program the on-off to suit your needs. Brewing coffee in under a minute, this coffee maker is fast as well.
The Keurig K-Select works with any of the extensive range of K-Cup pods that Keurig also produce. This means you can pick up favorites like Green Mountain and Tully’s Hawaiian Blend as well as signature coffees from high street names like Dunkin Donuts or Krispy Kreme. There are flavored coffees including the famous Pumpkin Spice, hot chocolates and even iced drinks for those warm days.
So this Valentine’s Day, diamonds are forever but coffee is for everyone and a coffee maker lasts a lot longer than a bunch of roses!
