Puerto Rico is a great destination for Work and Play.

A friend has recently been given an opportunity to travel to Puerto Rico for Business. As it was his first time to travel to Puerto Rico and to travel for work, he is looking for things to do that mixes both business and leisure.

Not only is this a great career opportunity, it is also an awesome travel opportunity. Puerto Rico is a beautiful island, and it would be crazy not to enjoy it if you’re given a chance! That being said, it is hard not to loosen up. There’s a way to enjoy a business trip without seeming like you’re abusing company time and money.

Business travel to Puerto Rico is not uncommon, especially because it is one of the most beautiful destinations that are closer to home. You can Live your own 5-star vacation story in Puerto Rico. It is a 5-star vacation destination, and so business is booming there. Also, there is no need for passports or foreign money there. Convenience is everything both in business and leisure trips!

If the company is giving you a day to explore, I say go for it. However, still bear in mind that you are officially on your company’s time and that whatever you do is representative of your company’s name. That means no getting drunk at a random beach bar. With 24 hours to spare on some you-time, the best activities to pick are ones that can benefit your company as well. My suggestions:

1. Find places to recommend dining in. Company socials are usually done in restaurants and cafes. Get to know Puerto Rico’s culinary tastes by trying their very own foodie’s heaven at the famous Rums. You not only indulge in Puerto Rican gastronomy, you also find something to recommend to other colleagues should they be sent there.

2. Get to Know Puerto Rico’s history. A great way to break the ice when it comes to foreign clients is to get to know enough about their history to get a conversation going. There is no better way to learn about a country’s history and background than to experience it firsthand. Get yourself to San Juan and enjoy its old world charm. You can enjoy horseback riding or see the magnificent Camuy caverns that runs through the 3rd largest subterranean river in the world. These places are gems that Puerto Ricans take pride of.

3. Glow, without getting anyone jealous. You don’t have to resist the call of the water, just don’t get too tan. Coming back to the office looking like a bronze god might get you in trouble with your colleagues. Puerto Rico takes pride in its Bioluminescent Bays which is an amazing experience! It is an adventure but a worthy one to take on.

My main point is that when mixing leisure and business, it is important to find activities that helps one grow, even on spare time. It is best to maximize your opportunities even when you are having fun.
