Hiro Sake: Genuine Sake That Japan Afficionados Can Enjoy
When I first travelled to Japan, I was psyched to try genuine Japanese Sake. After years of tasting a variety of it in different countries, finally doing it from its place of origin was quite an experience. As much as it was a great memory, it also unfortunately, put a damper on my appreciation of Sake that’s not from Japan as it doesn’t compare to that genuine taste. However, I found one brand that came close, and I’m happy to share with you all my amazing liquor find: the Hiro Sake.
Our Night Out With The Hiro Sake
I met up with one of my good friends who I haven’t seen for a long time. He was the perfect companion to drink Hiro Sake with as he was also a Japanese aficionado. There are two flavours available under the brand, the Hiro Red and the Hiro Blue. The Hiro Red is the preferred choice for those who wants to enjoy a hot sake. The Hiro Blue, on the other hand, is of the Junmai Ginjo variation. I preferred the Hiro Red while my friend preferred the Hiro Blue variation. We both weren’t disappointed and we enjoyed switching flavours. Both drinks have a difference in characteristic, but both still make for a great social drink to enjoy with friends.
Facts About The Hiro Sake
The Hiro Sake is a world class, handcrafted sake from Japan that is low calorie (only 39 calories/oz) and low alcohol (15% alcohol by volume). It is also gluten-free (made from rice), histamine and allergen free (no allergic reactions) and has 1/3 the acidity of wine (which makes it easier on the stomach). The rice it’s produced from is ‘polished’ or milled to remove at least 45% of its original weight and has added character and body.
Both Hiro Sake variants are created using only the finest ingredients at the Brewery Taiyo Shuzo, established in 1635 in the Niigata Prefecture. This assures that you’ve got genuine sake on your hands, made the traditional way. You can drink it on its own, served cold or warm but is also quite versatile and makes great cocktails.
