In the world of country music, this past year has seen an exciting baby boom, with countless new dads and dads of multiples across the board. With so many uncertainties in the world right now, one common thread between all parents is the love and need for protection they feel for their children. Becoming a dad is an incredible experience, and many can agree in the principle that there is no such thing as bad advice when you have a new baby.

Here at Aspiring Gentleman, we know that raising a child is such a special time. We’ve collected a few tips and tricks of the trade from a few new dads in country music in hopes of helping other soon-to-be dads soak up every special memory during the joys of fatherhood, no matter what the circumstances.

Stay Grateful

You’ve heard it time and time again, but all dads can tell you raising kids is the greatest joy in a man’s life, but time fly’s and in the blink of an eye, your kids are all grown up and on their own. Country singer Steve Moakler encourages fellow dads to live in the moment. Sharing with Aspiring Gentleman, “My biggest piece of advice would be not to wish away any of the time, no matter how challenging certain parts of parenthood might be.”

Soak In Every Moment

Moakler and his wife, Gracie, welcomed their first son Jackson in January of last year, and they announced the news of baby number 2 in the fall. With the announcement of their second baby on the way, a new album, and more exciting developments, Moakler shares that being a dad is the best gig he’s ever had. “I didn’t know it was possible, but my heart grew a couple sizes when our son was born… I know its cheesy, but it does go by so fast, and it’s all an incredible gift.”

Be A Parent And A Friend

Children and young adults thrive in openly communicative environments and when they can share their feelings. It’s a great reminder that dads can be both a parent and a friend, and there is a time for both discipline but also fun and games. Jason Aldean and his wife Brittany remind us not to take life too seriously with the contagious laughs from their newest addition, Navy.

Always Be Willing To Learn

Chart-topping songwriter and country music artist Ryan Hurd recently welcomed his first child, Hayes, with wife and fellow country star Maren Morris in February. The “To a T” singer took to Instagram to share his first shots of his new son, and he shared with pop culture in the fall, “Neither one of us knows what we’re doing, but it’s just been such an amazing time in our lives.” Hurd shows how dads of any age can always learn how to be the best father possible, and it’s essential always to stay open-minded. After all, teamwork makes parenthood dreamwork.
