Buying Shoes For The Woman In Your Life

So, you want to buy shoes for your lady. Brave decision, my friend. Men are notoriously bad at buying gifts, let alone trying to buy shoes for women. For some women, shoes are a very big deal, and you had better get this right. While you’re getting her some nice shoes, why not take a look at Shoe Hero and find yourself a new pair of walking shoes.

Here are some tips and considerations for any man brave enough to take on buying women’s shoes.

Get Her Size Right.

First things first get her shoe size right. You can get into a lot of trouble if you bring home shoes two sizes too large. You’re trying to look good by making her look and feel good and in this case size matters.

Don’t just get her shoe size off just any other shoe. Women’s shoes have a logical size chart like all men’s shoes. In most cases this works o.k., but not always. Designers and specialty lines can vary a bit as far as size goes. Know her size in a comparable style and if possible from the same designer or fashion line. Steal a shoe and bring it with you if you need to.

One more tip. If you are using her shoes to find the right size, don’t pick a pair that you know hurt to wear. You know the pair she loves to wear out but by the end of the night you holding them and she is barefooted asking for a piggy-back ride back to the car. She probably bought a size too small and they don’t fit right. If you buy the next half size up she can blame the bigger shoes on you, and secretly be happy not to have her feet killing her.

Don’t Just Buy The Most Expensive Pair You Can Find

A man could go broke trying to buy women’s designer shoes. Men think if we just buy that $1000 pair of shoes she’ll have to be happy, right? Well maybe, but you can get the same reaction with shoes a lot cheaper than that. Most women are a lot more shopper savvy than most men. They will not overpay for a pair of shoes when they can get a pair just as awesome for less than a third the price. You can check out schuh student discount, which offers a range of fashionable and comfortable shoes at discounted prices, helping you save money without sacrificing quality or style.

That’s not to say go buy her cheap shoes. Don’t do that. Big named designers like Marc Fisher are starting to run fashion lines through chain retailers. If you’re not sure who Marc Fisher is, don’t panic. He’s a really big women’s shoe designer. His personal designer shoe company, Marc Fisher LTD, has been making big news as he started offering his designs in more accessible and, more importantly for you, affordable locations.

Do some research and learn more about Marc Fisher and the other big designers entering the retail store space. If you can get her designer shoes with a big designer name attached, not only will she finally like a gift you got her, but you’ll surprise the heck out of her too. Oh yeah, and you might still have enough money to grab a burger and beer on the way home. That’s your present.

Don’t Get Too High.

I know there is nothing sexier than a beautiful woman in a pair of high heel stilettos. If you have decided on high heels, great, but be careful. Don’t buy the crazy high heels that look great on that model you saw in that one picture or the lifeless mannequin in the store. These sound and look great in theory but most men have no appreciation for just how difficult and painful it is to wear shoes like that.

You can buy a pair of high heels, by all means, do so. But be reasonable, and try to be empathetic. A good rule of thumb is nothing over 4.5 inches. Anything bigger and walking can become a real challenge. Sure it can be fun watching her trying to navigate the party but it’ll be you carrying her at the end of the night. So she will get the last laugh.

Beware of the strap.

There is a big design trend right now and its shoes with ankle straps. Ladies love them and they look amazing on the right pair of legs. But beware ankle straps can make short legs look even shorter and wider than they really are. You look good when she feels good. If your lady is tall and long-legged go for it, if not, best to stay away.

Throw in a pedicure.

Ok this one is not really a tip on buying her shoes, but it just might save your life. First off it’s a no-brainer. Almost every woman would love to be pampered a little bit, chances are she deserves it too. She will also be a lot more excited to wear those cute toeless shoes if her feet are on point.

Also if all else fails, that is, you fail and the shoes are not hit, at least she can get the pedicure on her way to exchange them. By the end of the day all, she won’t remember the fact that she didn’t like the shoes you picked out. She’ll remember what a great day she had in the spa and shoe shopping.
