Knocking back a drink especially after a long day is always relaxing. On some days, I head on over to the bar with friends to enjoy a round or two. On other days, I prefer enjoying my nightcap from the comfort of my home or hotel (I travel often). I’ve always liked trying different types of spirits and don’t limit myself to just my favorite. One of the latest bottles I acquired and enjoyed as a nightcap is the beloved Manhattan Moonshine.
“Manhattan Moonshine is an un-aged Whiskey, developed by Whiskey veteran, author and master distiller Ian Smiley in conjunction with Will Kehler.”
Instantly Attracted To The Manhattan Moonshine….
The Great Gatsby is a novel that sets the scene. I read the book in high school and have always been enticed by the colourful parties of Gatsby. The 20’s era was just one of the great peaks of American elegance that is sadly not as rampant as today. The Manhattan Moonshine’s packaging instantly screams out “GATSBY” of the Flapper Era. The bottle’s sophisticated, vintage packaging is classy and elegant, heavy on the Prohibition era’s art deco style. Holding the bottle makes me imagine myself as a guest at one of the parties in that era.
The Test of Manhattan Moonshine as a Whiskey
The look of the bottle definitely passes the gentleman test, but what about the whiskey?
Upon first sip, I knew that the bottle more than makes for the perfect outside component of this liquor. Just like its physical elegance, the liquor was exquisite and is a premium spirit. I was actually surprised that this wonderful, complex Whiskey didn’t need any aging to deliver its exceptional flavor. As the world’s first luxury Un-Aged Whiskey, the Manhattan Moonshine combines innovative, modern production methods, and together with its beautiful packaging, it is the liquid embodiment of a bygone era of American elegance.
Facts About The Manhattan Moonshine…
During the Prohibition era, the majority of spirits that were produced by sophisticated distilleries that operated in secret flowed into high-class speakeasies across the country. Nowadays, however, Moonshine is now being produced legally and has come to be referred to as any unaged Whiskey.
For taste and quality, Moonshine reflects the quality and craftsmanship that went into it. The absence of color and the heavy flavors imparted by the barrel during the traditional ageing process makes it perfect for mixing cocktails- including cocktails that normally call for Vodka or Gin.
