IMG 1907 150x150 - Taboo TwistBarber shop cigars may seem like a mere novelty, but having now smoked several Taboo Twists they provide some serious enjoyment. As you would expect based purely on their visual appearance, they are a lighter bodied, creamy and well balanced smoke. The particular cigar I chose for this review was their corona, approximately 6″x42. The claro and maduro portions of the wrapper have been expertly rolled, and the Nicaraguan filler tobacco is well packed. Running your fingers down this cigar you do not feel the barrier between the two wrappers.

When I first saw this cigar online, before I had held one, two questions came to mind:

1) The cigar looks ‘fun.’ Has it been rolled sloppily as a gimmick?

2) If it is well made, will the two wrappers burn unevenly?

Keepers of the Flame mention this uneven burning in their review. Having proven my first assumption false, I lit up my own Twist. Lovers of Tiramisu will certainly enjoy this cigar, as immediately a creamed hazelnut taste greets the tastebuds, with subtle hints of baking spices and no pepper. The intensity started light and remained sweetly savoury well through the final third, becoming more creamy instead of merely stronger. This  cigar burned very evenly, especially at the point of contact between the two wrappers (you can see this in the picture below). The ash was nothing to write home about, and never got longer than what you see here. The mild but not boring nature of this cigar is perfect for a nice long smoke free from lightheadedness. I have already ordered several more of these cigars from Taboo. In the summer months I picture their sweet aroma filling the fields of my local golf course.IMG 1900 300x168 - Taboo Twist
