Cartier Ballon Bleu

The Dial

Being keen on the dial of the watch is one way of determining the authenticity of a Cartier Ballon Bleu. A genuine version of the watch has “automatic” imprinted on the dial towards its bottom portion. The text stands out. When examining a watch, check for the presence of this feature. A watch that doesn’t have “automatic” written on it or has it in a different location is probably a fake. The dial of the genuine Cartier Ballon Bleu also has a distinctive silver coloring that shines elegantly. This is not the case for a fake one. While they may be silver colored, they are usually not as shiny as that of a genuine one.

The Crystal

Checking the crystal of the watch in question can come in handy in spotting a fake Cartier Ballon Bleu. You can hold the watch and examine the crystal from a side view. The crystal of a genuine version of the watch is made of fine quality material that distorts light. When viewed from the side therefore, you are sure to observe a distortion. The crystal of fake watches is however made of low-quality material and thin glass. When observed from the side, there are no distortions noticeable as they allow light to pass through easily.

The Bracelet

The bracelet of a Cartier Ballon Bleu is another outstanding feature that can be used to distinguish between a genuine and fake timepiece. Cartier uses screws in fastening the pieces of the bracelet on all of its watches. On fake watches however, the bracelet is likely to have pins holding it together. If the watch in question has pins rather than screws, you should begin questioning its authenticity. Even with screws, the drive slots should be visible. It is also worth noting that the slot drive groove should be flat for a genuine Cartier Ballon Bleu.

The Case

Check the case of the Cartier Ballon Bleu for screws. Om a genuine watch, the case is usually fastened by 8 screws. The case is also made of high-quality stainless-steel material. A fake watch however doesn’t have any screws on its case. Forgers minimize production costs by using cheap snap cases that are pressed closed rather than fastened with screws. The case should also bear the signature Cartier engraving.
