For many people, a vacation is all about doing things that you cannot do at home. Sure, you want to relax and enjoy your time, but seeing the sights is all part of the fun. Without exploring the place you are travelling to, it doesn’t really feel like a vacation. New York City provides something for everyone.
And of all the cities in the world, very few have the allure of New York City in the “sight-seeing” department. In an effort to expand your horizons and see some very unique and amazing sights, here are a couple of things to make sure you do and see in New York City, that you really can’t do anywhere else.
Visit the 9/11 Memorial and Museum
The terrible tragedy that occured back on September 11th 2001 is truly among the most devastating events in the history of the USA. The event will never be forgotten and in the place of the fallen towers, there now sits a memorial and museum that has been visited by millions of people from all over the world.
The design is breathtaking and there is no better place to pay your respects to those who lost their lives on that sad day. The names of all those who passed away are engraved at the site and while it is a somber place to be, it is an important place that everyone who visits New York City should
Take a Boat Tour or Cruise
Sure, boat tours and cruises exist outside of New York City, but good luck finding one that is as picturesque as the ones New York City has to offer. You will pass by many of the most popular sites in New York City, all from the water.
This will give you unparalleled views and will give you an entirely different perspective of the Big Apple. You can even take and post photos or leave a Statue of Liberty cruise review, so that others can hear about your great experience. Also, it is quite affordable, which is always a bonus when staying in New York.
Check Out the Dream House
Simply put, this is one of the most unique and “one of a kind” experiences you will find in New York City. Sitting behind a random black door with a cryptic sign sits the Dream House. The Dream House is a unique experience of light and sound and needs to be experienced to truly understand.
Think of it as almost like a brand new sensory experience, one that will affect you in a way nothing else ever has. Every move you make and every light that changes will affect the sound in The Dream House. It has been around for decades, but is still a spot that deserves a visit.
Take a Walk on the High Line
The High Line might just be one of the most unique walkways and parks you will ever visit. Sitting on an old railway spur in Manhattan is the High Line, which is a nearly 1.5 mile elevated park and greenway.
The park is beautiful and there is something very cool about walking high above the ground, surrounded by gorgeous greenery and architecture. It is open all-year round, and with it being the winter, now is the perfect time to visit the High Line without the huge amounts of tourists that flock there nearly every day during the summer.
