With the best months of the year just ahead of us, thrill-seekers have lots of outdoor activities to pursue. These five activities all offer something different and unique, so read on to find out more.
Microlighting
If you want to fly, then you should definitely give microlighting a try. There are so many impressive locations which you can fly over in a microlight aircraft. And there is nothing between you and the fresh air like there is when you’re in a plane or helicopter. You can fly with an expert instructor if you’ve never done it before, so don’t let that put you off. It’s simply a great way to see a place. There are great spots in South America and Africa that are very popular with microlighting enthusiasts.
Boating
You can have a lot of thrill-seeking fun if you have your own boat to play around with. Whether it’s a speedboat or a pontoon boat, you can speed around the seas and make the most of the open water. There are all kinds of other activities that you can do if you have access to a boat as well. For example, water skiing is easy if you have a boat with the power to pull you along at speed. As long as you do it safely, this is a lot of fun, so maybe a boat of your own should be your next purchase.
Zorbing
Zorbing has been around for a while now, but it still seems to be growing in popularity. There are even zorbing races that take place. It’s an interesting experience. But if you’re thrill-seeker, you really have to try it out. It involves getting inside a giant transparent ball and throwing yourself down a slope. You become a hamster in a ball for a short amount of time. You don’t feel any impact with the ground though because you’re inside the ball within the exterior ball. So, it’s all very safe.
Sandboarding
For people who are not near enough to the coast to surf, sandboarding offers an unusual alternative. It’s a new sport that involves using a skateboard with the wheels removed to surf the sand dunes. If you can find a location with tall dunes that are easy to slide down, this can be a lot of fun. You should at least give it a try if you’ve never even heard of it before. It’s a pretty unique experience and one that you will probably never forget.
Ice Climbing
Maybe you’ve already tried rock climbing or mountain climbing. But have you ever tried ice climbing? It’s the latest outdoor activity that is becoming a big deal for adventurers around the world. The place where it’s most popular at the moment is in New Zealand. The Fox Glacier has peaks that are 10000 feet tall, making them perfect for climbing up. There are climbing tours there that allow novices to take part in this activity safely alongside people who know what they’re doing. It’s starting to spread to other parts of the world too now.
