Bali is a stunning island that is part of Indonesia and is located between Java in the west and Lombok in the east. The island has long been popular for vacations due to a combination of amazing natural scenery, fantastic local people and its place as part of the Coral Triangle, an area with the highest diversity of marine species in the world. Seminyak is on the west coast of the island, to the north of Kuta which was one of the first towns on the island to significantly develop itself for tourists. The area is known for the long sandy beaches that are popular with surfers. Seminyak itself has a great array of high end shopping locations as well as a wide range of eating places, meaning regardless of your tastes, there is something that will suit you. Ku De Ta is a bar-restaurant in the town that often rates as one of the top party spots on the whole island with its beach-side location.
Accommodation in the area includes a number of high quality villas that offer a combination of privacy and discreet staff. There are also some ideal for larger groups, such as in the Ocean Front estate where there are villas able to accommodate up to 20 people as well as smaller, intimate options.
If you are a surf fan, then Uluwatu is a must-see place on a visit to Bali. Ranked fourth in the world as a surf location, the area is at the south-western tip of the Bukit Peninsula and was the location for the shooting of the classic surf movie Morning of the Earth. As well as surf and scenery, the area is also the location of the Pura Luhur Uluwatu, a sea temple that is one of the six holiest places of worship on the island. It is also inhabited by monkeys who love to steal from visitors and can be bribed with fruit!
A number of the villas in the area occupy cliff side locations for a breath taking view while also having their own pools and being a short distance from the beach. Popular for wedding parties, the villas can house up to 10 people.
Canggu is a coastal village on the south coast of the island and is around 10km north of Kuta. It is known as somewhere to go if you want a quieter holiday, away from the busiest spots while still offering a great range of beach and cultural activities. There are a number of temples to see including two that are hundreds of years old. Most of the beaches feature grey or black sand and have great surfing conditions.
