Working hard and playing even harder is a good philosophy live by throughout your life. For some, that means working hard and saving up to have some amazing adventures all over the world. Traveling can be a huge part of your life, and often be where you make the most memories that you will look back on in years to come. But it is essential that we make the right choice with our travel plans, especially as some of us can’t consistently travel all the time.
One destination that I think is worthy of being added to your “must go” destinations list is Iceland. An island filled with dramatic scenery, larger glaciers and picturesque views of volcanoes and lava fields. Its simply is a dramatic scene like no place else. But there is more to the eye than snow and ice. So I thought I would share with you some of the things you need to know about a trip to Iceland, it may even inspire you to book.
When should you go
You could travel to Iceland at any time of the year. However, it is recommended to not travel during the harsher winter months like January due to the weather conditions. But heading to the island at any time would solely depend on what you wanted to do when you go there. Summer is the high season offering the best weather and flexibility. All mountain roads are open, meaning hiring a car could be a potential thing to do. It’s easier driving around and seeing as much as possible. However, the winter months offer some great Winter themed activities like skiing and also gives you the chance to look out for the Northern Lights. Certainly, something that adorns many a person’s bucket list.
What should you do
A trip to Iceland doesn’t mean lazing around on the beach, but for those pool lovers, it could be the perfect holiday hotspot. Thanks to the Blue Lagoon, you can relax in the milky waters of the lagoon and even swim up to the bar for that chilled glass of champagne. If you like something that offers a bit more adventure, then Iceland offers the perfect spot to go whale watching, exploring sea caves, or taking a stroll deep into the snow-covered forest to checkout the Northern Lights.

Many of Iceland Inhabitants reside in the capital city, Reykjavik. So this could be the perfect destination for your stay. Offering plenty of accommodation options to suit all budgets, plenty of restaurants to tantalise the taste buds and bars to people watch and enjoy a few drinks. The city offers great links for getting around Iceland, so even if you don’t fancy driving you could always use the other transport options to get around the city and take in the sights.
Overall, Iceland seems to be a place that could offer you a totally unique holiday. Whether you choose to visit for a few days or longer, there seems to be a lot to do and see. The perfect place to make those amazing travel memories.
