Men’s Dental Problems

A friend of mine who happens to be a cosmetic dentist had this to say about dental problems that men face. Men and women each have their own unique challenges when it comes to dental hygiene. This is especially true when it comes to dental check-ups, and related visits as men patients tend to ignore the matter in most cases whether it’s minor or severe.

This recent survey was conducted by the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), and the 289 respondents were comprised of general consumers and dentists.

According to the result of the survey:

  • 45% indicated that men do not schedule regular dental check-ups
  • 30% believed embarrassment or fear prevented men from getting the dental care they needed
  • 18% thought men don’t have the time for a visit to the dentists
  • 5% thought most men did not even contact a regular dentist
  • Men tend only to visit the dentists if they have an issue like a toothache, infection or any other tooth emergency

Why Men Should Pay Attention to Their Oral Health

Men Should Pay Attention to Their Oral Health

It is critical men start paying more attention to their oral health as the implications of them not doing so are far too grave. Having perfect teeth is not only a sign that you have excellent oral health, but it can ensure that you are less prone to other dangerous diseases later down the line. Also, having clean straight teeth will improve your appearance and your confidence. With invisible braces and clear aligner voucher codes available these days, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t use them.

According to the recent surveys, men who suffer by the erectile dysfunction often diagnosed with periodontitis. Periodontal diseases can predict the heart issues or even heart attacks even more than high cholesterol issues. When a man has bleeding gums, the single layers can thin up the oral mucosa, and that allows easily any bacteria to enter in the bloodstream from your mouth.

These bacteria can cause many dental problems or can call up several health hazards as it releases toxins. These toxins can cause dental cancer also. Proper checkups, medications, and dental cleaning process can stop the issues from the route. Only with good and regular tooth care can men can avoid such issues.

How Men Can Prevent Tooth Decay

Tooth decay is the destruction of the enamel (outer surface) of our tooth; this is known as also dental cavities or dental caries. Decay is generally caused by bacteria that collect on our tooth enamel. The bacteria live in the sticky, white film called plaque (pronounced PLAK). There are lots of good ways to prevent the plaque buildup:

Use fluoride toothpaste after every meal. If not possible, do it at least twice a day, after lunch and dinner. Flossing is equally essential to keep your teeth in a healthy condition. Limit the habit of frequent sipping and snacking food and drinks. Maintain regular dental check-ups, etc.

Preventive cleaning and checkups are essential for every man to avoid further issues and complications that are usually associated with having dental problems.
