Mix to impress with these Four Cocktail recipes!
When out with a group of friends, it’s always a tradition for us to always include a round of drinks in any plan. My friends and I can be quite adventurous and this transcends even to our drink choices. Some men have their staple drinks that’s basically their go-to order. There’s nothing wrong with that of course. I have mine as well. But on most nights, we like to experiment and taste other liquors to create a variety in our arsenal of alcoholic drinks. Here are four drinks (with cocktail recipes to match) that have been approved by a group of rowdy gentleman to try out on your next night night out with friends. It helps to know all this stuff when throwing a party and impressing the ladies.
Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva (SRP: $40)
The palate of this drink evokes sweet toffee fudge, has a seductive and elegant finish, and can be sipped on the rocks or as the base of a cocktail. It’s aged for up to 12 years in small oak casks. This rum has a distinctive nose with notes of maple syrup, orange peel, brown sugar and liquorice. With an incredibly smooth finish, it has enough power to rival that of a Cognac or whiskey.
Here’s a recipe to enjoy this liquor with: the Diplomatico Aged Sidecar. Ingredients include: 1 ½ oz Diplomatico Rum Reserva Exclusiva, ¾ oz orange liqueur and ¾ oz lemon juice. Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake and strain into a sugar-rimmed cocktail glass.
Tequila Partida Reposado (SRP: $45)
The Tequila Partida Reposado is smooth and rich with Partida’s signature touch of sweetness. The liquor is aged for six months in one-pass Jack Daniels American oak barrels. The Partida Reposado carries aromas of chocolate and vanilla, hazelnut and almond and a deep, rich finish.
You can enjoy this liquor with the Ruby Partida recipe, created by Dale De Groff. Ingredients include: 1 ½ oz Partida Reposado Tequila, 1 ½ oz Fresh Ruby Red Grapefruit juice, ½ oz Cointreau, ½ oz Fresh squeezed lemon juice and ½ oz French Cassis. Shake the first 4 ingredients in a shaker with ice. Strain into a child cocktail glass. Dribble the ½ oz French Cassis down the inside of the glass so it will settle at the bottom.
G’vine Nouaison Gin (SRP: $36)
The G’Vine Nouaison is a vibrant cocktail base for every cocktail. An upscale gin with woodsy and vegetal notes on the nose and a sharp, fruity juniper-forward flavour, it is definitely your typical classy drink.
Enjoy this recipe for Win & Vine, created by Philip Duff. Ingredients include 1 oz G’Vine Nouaison gin, 1 oz dry vermouth, 1 oz dry white wine and 3 drops orange bitters. Stir all the ingredients with ice and strain into the glass. Garnish with three fresh green grapes, speared. Put all the ingredients in a shaker, add ice, shake and serve in a martini glass. Garnish with a star anise.
