Body image is the way one sees oneself and imagine how they look. For most of the people especially teenagers, body image can be related to their self-esteem. A negative body image is when someone feels once body does not measure up to the ideals of the family or the society. People with negative body image tend to feel self-conscious awkward and may also not be confident about themselves.

People with the problem of negative body image may perceive their normal weight as overweight. An emaciated young women might find herself in a mirror and feel greater than her actual size. People often have the belief that losing weight would further improve their appearance and make them feel good about themselves and their bodies. A negative body image is a problem that won’t just go away all by itself. It’s really important to recognise and accept your feelings which will help you become more relaxed in your body and it also lessens the tendency to repress feelings and return to unhealthy, negative inner criticism to escape uncomfortable feelings. Many of us dedicate a good amount of time in health clubs and gym. In the end, we’re in a better shape but are not really satisfied when we look up in the mirror. Most of us also believe that we’re on a good diet but the consumption of the processed food is inescapable which encourage the retention of the fat in our body.
