Body image is the way one sees oneself and imagine how they look. For most of the people especially teenagers, body image can be related to their self-esteem. Self-esteem is important because feeling good about your body gives you a confidence about oneself in a crowd. It’s said that people with high self-esteem feel more secure and have better control of their lives.

Positive body image is all about accepting the way one looks and feel good about one’s bodies. It’s also about how one feels about the way one looks. A positive body image means that you see yourself as you really are and what your body can do.
What is Negative Body Image?
A negative body image is when someone feels once body does not measure up to the ideals of the family or the society. People with a negative body image are often dissatisfied and may not look in the mirror and see themselves the way they really are. People with negative body image tend to feel self-conscious awkward and may also not be confident about themselves.

In the present day, every other individual is concerned about their health and figure. People prefer to have healthy fat free food because they are concerned about how they look. People tend to avoid the consumption of even 1% fat in their food. Individuals these days have the tendency to look at themselves in the mirror to see how they look. But people these days are getting obsessed of their body. Many people spend half their day in front of the mirror looking at themselves. In the current generation this has become quite common these days. People also have a belief that eating less would keep them slim and healthy, which is a very wrong concept.
Relation between Body Image and Weight
People with the problem of negative body image may perceive their normal weight as overweight. An emaciated young women might find herself in a mirror and feel greater than her actual size. Similarly, it’s common for the obese people to describe that they had perceived their body as much smaller and did not discern they were as large as they are.
Relation between Body Image and Eating Disorder
In today’s world, people’s concern for their body image and their eating disorder go hand in hand. People often have the belief that losing weight would further improve their appearance and make them feel good about themselves and their bodies. So the next thing that people tend to do is restrict eating and overexercise, which eventually leads to patterns of disorder eating and weight obsession.
Remedies for Negative Body Image
A negative body image is a problem that won’t just go away all by itself. It’s really important to recognise and accept your feelings which will help you become more relaxed in your body and it also lessens the tendency to repress feelings and return to unhealthy, negative inner criticism to escape uncomfortable feelings. Many of us dedicate a good amount of time in health clubs and gym. In the end, we’re in a better shape but are not really satisfied when we look up in the mirror. Most of us also believe that we’re on a good diet but the consumption of the processed food is inescapable which encourage the retention of the fat in our body. This processed food which is hard to burn off making a layer of flab in our body which is also known as Stubborn Fat. It doesn’t really matter how intense the workout is or strict the diet is, we can’t seem to lose the stubborn fat.
