Joint Juice is a combined drink and health supplement that aims to improve joint performance.”

I tried Joint Juice, a health drink that claims to help your joints function better by providing them ample lubrication so that the joints can move freely. It is an over the counter nutritional drink packed with Glucosamine and Chondroitin, both of which have been known to be beneficial to joints. Big name stores like Costco sell Joint Juice, likely because so many men are buying it in bulk.

According to writer Alex Hess of The Arthritis Foundation,

“Chondroitin is a major component of cartilage that helps it retain water. It is made by the body naturally. For production of supplements, it can be manufactured from the cartilage of animals, like cows, pigs or sharks, or it can be made in the laboratory.”

“Glucosamine is a natural compound found in healthy cartilage, particularly in the fluid around the joints. For dietary supplements, it is harvested from shells of shellfish or can be made in the laboratory. It can come in several chemical forms, but the one most used in arthritis is glucosamine sulfate. In laboratory tests, glucosamine showed anti-inflammatory properties and even appeared to help cartilage regeneration.”

What does a healthy-ish, young-ish man like myself need with these supplements?

The primary supplements in Joint Juice, Glucosamine and Chondroitin, help to reduce joint space narrowing due to connective tissue wear-and-tear.  They build connective tissues, such as skin, tendons, ligaments, bone, and cartilage, which forms the basis needed for holding your entire body together. Any young, middle-aged, and older athlete should understand how beneficial this is when playing sports–from skiing and skateboarding to boxing and basketball.

Many satisfied customers have come forward promoting the Joint Juice.  Am I one of them?

What did I think of this? Is it worth drinking on a regular basis for a 20-something-year-old man?

The answer is a YES! However, I want to be fair and let you know the two sides to the product that you need to look into when considering whether to buy this the Joint Juice drink.  Impartial customers on Amazon gave Joint Juice 4 out of 5 stars for instance.

IMG 1458 - Joint Juice: The Low Down

My knees have become quite problematic from years of playing sports starting with a middle school and high school career in Greco-Roman wrestling. This is a high-intensity sport that involves constant stress to the joints—especially my knees as I practiced many takedown repetitions that often end with my knee swiping the mat as I take an opponent down. After a few years, I resorted to knee pads but they have never been the same.  These days I stick to jogging and tennis mostly.

It also doesn’t help that I’ve been doing things that are too adventurous for my own good when I am traveling. The photo below shows me training with a team of Executive Protection agents in Colombia as we practice real-life scenarios with armored cars to escape attackers. In this particular scenario, I found myself being shoved into and back out of the other into the second car to speed down the road and escape mock live round.

O course, I am not new to high ropes courses, mountain biking, and more. Lately, I have experienced sore pain in my knees and it kept me from moving a freely as I wanted. For a free spirit like me who is currently on a trip around Europe that has taken me to countries like Germany, Austria, Slovakia, and Belgrade this is a big problem.  This is why I welcomed the opportunity to try Joint Juice for myself before this Euro trip.

Here were my top positives and negatives of Joint Juice:

CONS:

Let’s start with the bad. The most annoying thing about it, if any, was the fact that there were not many reliable reviews online. Hopefully, this changes. It is good to note that the website does not present any clinical reviews, so proceed at your own risk. You’ll need to drink it every day for it to work, so if you do not commit you won’t experience the potential benefits. However, would mega store like Walgreen’s and Amazon agree to sell Joint Juice if they also did not believe their customers would benefit?

PROS:

I think the biggest benefit to using Joint Juice was how I felt a few days after using it. I looked out for side effects, and there weren’t any. I personally felt the discomfort lessen in my knees, and somehow, I felt a bit more energetic while working out. I think that with products like this, you really need to listen to your body and understand if it is working well with the product. I like that it came in various forms – you can get it as a shot, a drink, or a powdered drink mix. I don’t care how old I get – I will always prefer a fizzy drink to swallowing a big tablet/capsule. Another benefit of it is that it is incredibly affordable, and it is readily available in many different stores all across the country. It also tastes pretty good!
