Five reasons to add a new tracksuit to your wardrobe
No, your eyes do not deceive you; tracksuits have come back into fashion in a big way. As the retail data company Edited reported in an Associated Press piece, tracksuits sales soared earlier this year, as the pandemic intensified – and there are good reasons for many of us to stay tracksuit-clad.
One simple reason is that it can strike just the right balance between making you feel comfortable and leaving you looking sufficiently professional for those Zoom calls. Other reasons include…
Tracksuits, quite simply, look good
This year, a range of colors, particularly such monochromatic muted hues as nudes and blush, have become popular in loungewear. Krista Corrigan, an analyst at Edited, observes that this attire is often chosen for both practical and stylistic purposes.
Many customers buy these pieces to serve, for example, “the purpose of looking on-trend, whether it be for social media or just because they want to feel cute in the house,” says Corrigan.
Tracksuits are versatile
“The spike in interest in more casual or sporty clothes has been true of the lounge- and activewear, but longer term, we’d expect this to be more about multi-functional clothing or two-mile wear,” Francesca Muston, the Vice President of fashion content at trend-forecasting firm WGSN, remarks.
She further told Harper’s BAZAAR that these comfortable clothes “are functional regardless of whether you are working out, relaxing at home, or popping to the shops.”
A tracksuit can let you keep moving during your morning run
Even if, in the current climate, you are often reticent about leaving the house for anything other than essential reasons, you are probably still engaging in outdoor exercise from time to time. When you do, taking a tracksuit can ensure that your movement isn’t needlessly impeded.
That’s no small benefit, as it would reduce your risk of injury, as the Camden New Journal implies. Wearing this suit would also give you the comfort you need to focus on the exercise task at hand.
Burn calories at a higher rate
Another incentive to wear a tracksuit as a matter of habit is that you can shed surplus fat more easily when you move around in that attire. That’s not directly down to the tracksuit itself but instead how it heats your body, meaning it has to work harder and expend more energy.
Consequently, those calories could just drop off, boding well for your physique even if you aren’t quite back at the gym just yet. Besides, getting fitter and healthier is no bad thing – especially at a time when the coronavirus is still lurking, potentially – and literally – just around the corner.
You have a broad range of tracksuits from which to choose
The internet is probably the best marketplace where you can find a tracksuit just to your liking. Just consider the example of the online store Gym King, which stocks a varied selection of tracksuits for men – and women, too if you are thinking of treating your other half to a tracksuit of their own.
