Too often, men think that washing their face with bar soap and cold water and slapping on aftershave is enough skincare for them. Skincare is usually put in the “beauty” category and is mostly seen as a primary feminine activity.

You’re also probably intimidated by the number of products and complicated steps involved.

But what about our health?

Taking care of skin is essential to everyone’s physique, regardless of gender. Men’s skincare is not about having flawless and poreless skin but about combating acne, sores, rashes, and wrinkles.

This doesn’t mean you have to buy a bunch of pink and girly products and do a ten-step skincare routine every morning and night. All you need is a simple men’s skincare regime.

So let’s get down to business and break down the hows of achieving healthy and handsome skin!

Step 1: Cleanser

Start the day with a clean slate and a fresh face!

Continue washing your face, but instead of bar soap, use a gentle foaming cleanser.

Before going to sleep, use a cleanser to reduce surface oil and remove pollution from your pores. We recommend using an oil-based foaming cleanser to get rid of stubborn dirt. For sensitive skin types, you can use a water-based cleanser for a milder wash.

Step 2: Exfoliator

After cleansing, some dirt and debris might remain on your skin. It will make its way into your pores and form a layer of dead and dry skin, causing whiteheads and blackheads.

Exfoliator is your go-to solution for this problem. Use a gentle exfoliant three to seven times a week, but cut that number back if you’re using a chemical exfoliant.

On top of that, unclogged pores also prevent acne and allow skincare products to penetrate more effectively.

Step 3: Toner

Tie up the cleansing stage by using a toner.

Toner eliminates any last traces of dirt, impurities, and grime stuck in your pores after washing and exfoliating. It shrinks pores, which is helpful for acne-prone and sensitive skin.

Alcohol-free and gentle toners are the best option for all skin types. Just put a few drops of toner into your palms, then gently dab them into your face.

Step 4: Moisturizer

After thoroughly cleaning your skin, it is important to moisturize your skin to keep it hydrated and supple.

Using moisturizers can reduce the chance of dryness or oiliness. It will also brighten your complexion and make wrinkles less obvious.

Choose a water-based and non-greasy moisturizer to maintain natural moisture balance and apply it after waking up and before you go to sleep.

But if your skin isn’t dehydrated, you don’t have to moisturize at night anymore.

Step 5: Sunscreen

No skincare regime is complete until you use sunscreen.

SPF sunscreen is a crucial step in your skincare as it protects your skin from harmful UV sun rays that result in sunburn, tanning, and early skin aging. You also cut your risk of contracting skin cancers in half by using this.

A sunscreen with an SPF of 40+ is ideal for men and should be applied every 12 hours!
