If you want to look your best, it’s not just about working out and getting the right clothes. You also need to take care of your hair and skin. You need to start by understanding what you need to do and then figure out how to make sure that you do it on a regular basis. Starting with a simple routine can help ensure that you keep up with it. You can add in other steps as you get more comfortable with the routine and various products.
Cleansing Your Face
You need to wash your face, but you need to do so without stripping away the natural oils that protect your skin. In other words, your face should not feel squeaky clean. You should use a cleanser, not soap, and you should make a point of washing twice a day, in the morning and in the evening. Pay attention to the ingredients in your products and how your skin responds to them. If consistent irritation occurs, look for ingredients that soothe sensitive skin and steer clear of harsh or chemically strong treatments.Photo by Ron Lach : Pexels
When it comes to hair, the trick is to find the right medium between washing too often and not washing enough. Daily is almost certainly too often. Once a week is probably not enough. You should choose a shampoo that is right for your hair, whether it’s dry, oily, or damaged, and you should also condition after every shampoo. You can also deep condition from time to time. You can buy the best clarifying shampoo to use on occasion to help reduce buildup from product use as well as flakes and itching.
Protection Against Aging
Another element of your routine should be protecting your skin against aging. Moisturizer is an important element of this. You might have to go through some trial and error to find one that works for you. Look for a lighter formulation if you are uncomfortable with how it feels on your face. You should also try to get one that has sunscreen. At a minimum, you should put on moisturizer in the morning. You can also put it on at night if you tend toward dryness. In addition to moisturizer, you should use eye cream as well. The part of your face around your eyes is where aging is most apparent, sometimes starting as early as in your 20s. You may also want to consider using retinol or an antioxidant serum to repair any damage and help slow aging.
Once you have the above routine down, doing some care in the morning and some in the evening, it’s time to add in some additional steps if you like. For example, you might want to get an exfoliator that you use once a week or so to remove dead skin off your face. You may also want to consider a clay mask, which you can use periodically as a deep cleanser. Toner can be useful if you have oily skin. Finally, you might want to consider a night cream. Your overall health contributes to both healthy skin and hair, so be sure to get enough sleep and exercise and eat nutritiously to make sure they both always look their best.
