Why Is My Car Not Starting!?

We’ve all had that nightmare scenario. We wake up, get ready, get in the car and…surprise, surprise, it doesn’t start. It is then that we start blaming everyone under the sun for this issue except for ourselves. We curse the car manufacturer, the idiot that sold it to us among others. But what’s really going wrong? Well, here are some of the reasons why your car might not start.

You Haven’t Used It

If you don’t use a car for a few weeks or even a few months, there is every possibility that when you do, the car won’t start. This is due to the fact that the battery will have naturally wormed its way down to zero. This is particularly true if you’ve left your car outside for a long period.

Damp And Ice

Both rain and icy weather can be seriously detrimental to your car. Dampness can once again affect the battery of the engine and ensure that the car won’t start the next morning. Ice can cause more significant damage, particularly if the vehicle wasn’t protected.

Bad Ignition

It’s entirely possible that your car won’t start because there’s a problem with the ignition, not the battery. There’s a simple test for this. Switch on the car headlights. If the headlights work and the car won’t start the good news is there’s nothing wrong with the battery. Unfortunately, your car probably does need a repair.

Left The Lights On

Finally, the main culprit for a car that won’t start is almost always going to be lights being left on. Or, something being left plugged in. The battery will have completely drained, and you should probably check out the following infographic to find out how to fix it.
