The onset of the novel coronavirus has facilitated the need to spend more time at home. While natural homebodies have taken to this new arrangement nicely, people whose foremost leisure activities involve leaving the house haven’t adjusted quite as well. After all, if getting out and doing things is what you live for, spending all of your free time at home is liable to represent a tremendous departure from the norm. Fortunately, being stuck at home doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy your downtime in the utmost comfort. Anyone looking to make sheltering in place a comfy, relaxing experience will be well-served by the following tips.

Upgrade Your Entertainment Center

For many of us, staying home entails a fair amount of television watching. Whether we’re binging our favorite movies or TV shows or channel surfing in the hope of finding something interesting, televisions factor prominently into most of our at-home entertainment endeavors. That being the case, if your television has seen better days or isn’t up to the task of properly displaying 4K content, it may be time to think about upgrading. Luckily, high-quality 4K TVs have become more affordable than ever, with a sizable percentage of them retailing for under $1,000. In fact, you should have trouble finding a decently-sized name-brand 4K television in the $500 to $700 range. If you’re looking to take your viewing experience to a whole new level, an 8K television may be something to consider. However, many people are liable to find these TVs prohibitively expensive.

If you’re a gamer, a 4K or 8K television is practically a must. With most modern-day consoles supporting 4K visuals, a good 4K TV is sure to enhance your video game experience. Furthermore, both the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X are capable of producing 8K visuals. So, if you’re lucky enough to snag either of these elusive consoles, an 8K television may be a worthwhile purchase.

Work on Your Media Backlog

One big silver lining to being housebound is being able to make a dent in your media backlog. Between movies, TV shows, video games, and various other facets of entertainment, many people have media backlogs that are truly intimidating. Try as we might to stay on top of things. There’s simply too much content to consume and not enough time in which to consume it. However, with so much newfound downtime, getting the jump on your media backlog may finally be possible.

To help simplify things, make a list of all the shows and movies you’ve let pile up, then categorize them in terms of importance. Things you really want to watch should be at the top of this list, while things in which you only have a mild interest should be placed toward the bottom. Once every item has been assigned a level of importance, make a point of devoting a set amount of time to your media backlog each day. As you cross more and more items off the list, your backlog will become progressively less daunting. Invest in Comfortable Loungewear

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to look your best every day. Looking good is part of feeling good, and if donning outside-the-house clothes in the comfort of your own home is helping you get through this pandemic, more power to you. However, if comfort is your foremost priority when it comes to at-home clothing, you’d be wise to seek out comfortable loungewear for men or women. As the name suggests, loungewear refers to clothing that’s designed with comfort and relaxation in mind. Most loungewear is far more breathable and far less constrictive than outside-the-house clothes, making it ideal for TV watching, book reading, video gaming playing, and other at-home leisure activities.

In the ongoing fight against COVID-19, staying home as much as possible is among the most effective steps we can take. In addition to limiting potential exposure to the virus, sheltering in place can help prevent both noticeably sick and asymptomatic individuals from spreading it to others. Of course, unless you’re a natural homebody, this new arrangement will likely present some complications. Fortunately, with the previously discussed pointers’ help, you can turn being housebound into a fulfilling vacation.
