If your life isn’t where you pictured it, you’re probably feeling dissatisfied. Rest assured that you aren’t alone. The majority of us settle for jobs that aren’t what we dreamt. Why? Sometimes it’s easier to stop half way up the ladder. The truth is, if you want to live a contented life, you’re going to have to climb all the way. Nothing worth having was ever easy, and you’ve got a struggle ahead of you to get to where you want to be. The good news is that it’ll be worth it in the end. Every journey starts with a small step. We’re going to look at a few such steps you could take.
FOLLOW YOUR ROLE MODELS
To give yourself a much-needed push, set role models in your sights. You may want to focus on your favourite footballers, or some CEOS to model yourself on. Keep your sights on people who have achieved the things you dream of. Research your chosen role models lives. Find out how they got to where they are. There’s no better way to work out how to get ahead than hearing from people who already have. Keep pictures of those people in your workspace as a reminder to push harder. With your role models in mind, you can get to work!
WORK OUT HOW TO GET WHAT YOU WANT
Knowing what you want is one thing, but it won’t do you any you good if you don’t know how to get it. All you need to do is research what steps you need to take. You only have to take action once you’ve worked out a business plan. At this stage, take it easy on yourself. Build up to the big event slowly. The research you’ll be doing depends on what your dreams are. Do you want to become the manager of your office? Would you like to get out completely, and learn something new like how to become a personal trainer? Work out if you need any qualifications to help you get where you want to be. If not, what else can you do to achieve those dreams? Again, it helps to turn to people who have already achieved the goal. Look at testimonials about how other people have managed it. That way, you can build a better picture of what you need to do.
Don’t let yourself lose momentum after taking these first steps. Take action to keep the momentum alive. Your role model pictures will work some way towards this. Make sure, too that you act as fast as possible. If you don’t take action for weeks, it’s no wonder you lose that much-needed passion. As soon as you know what to do, take steps to achieve it. If you need to take a course, don’t hesitate to get yourself signed up. Leaving too much time between your decisions will leave space for fear to creep in. Remember that it’s fear that’s holding you back in the first place!
