VIZIO SB4051-C0 Sound Bar: Powerful Audio, Thrilling Experience

Whether you’re a home cinema fanatic or a dedicated audiophile, you’ll want your media den to be equipped with a high-end audio system. But as much as I enjoy great stereo sound, I’ve never been a fan of troublesome installations involving wires, cables, and speaker placement. Even wireless audio systems can be confusing to set up, in my experience.

One thing VIZIO does right with their SB4051-C0 5.1 Sound Bar System is making it easy to set up. A handy guide gives you ample audio education and show you how to connect analog audio, optical audio, coaxial audio, and HDMI cables to their proper ports. The system’s wireless subwoofer and rear satellite speakers allow you freedom of placement without needing to hide cables that run across the floor.

Audio recommender site CNET has called the SB4051-C0 one of the best soundbar systems of 2015. It didn’t take me long to discover why. The system does justice to the term “immersive audio” with room-filling stereo sound. Playing lossless digital music tracks through the soundbar proved to be a joy. Streaming music via a Bluetooth link proved easy and convenient.

The soundbar can closely emulate the theatrical experience. Watching a Blu-ray of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, I admired the amplitude and oomph of the movie’s battle sound effects, as well as the pounding tempo of its rock music soundtrack.

The formidable bass produced by the soundbar is truly noteworthy. It delivers the effect of booming or rumbling sound most effectively. I admire that in a home audio system. It makes the audio experience as intense as what you can get inside a cinema or concert hall.

The visual design of the soundbar exudes understated elegance. The speakers are covered in fine perforated metal, rather than fabric or plastic—a sleek industrial aesthetic that appeals to me. The subwoofer and speakers might appear a bit spartan-looking, but they are pleasing to the eye. You don’t need your home audio system to be ostentatious, after all.
