5 $15 Budget Friendly Labor Day Weekend Wines

Whether you are having a barbeque, a finger buffet or a formal dining experience this labor day weekend, there’s one thing you need to have – wine.  There are plenty of ways to go about choosing the ideal wine for this labor day weekend; picking the color you like, the type of grape or even by the price.  Here are five budget friendly wines that mix well with typical labor day weekend foods, weather, and ambience.

Reds

The Capezzana Barco Reale di Carmignano D.O.C. comes from Tuscany in Italy and is a dark purple-red wine that has a taste of blackberries and dark cherries.  For people who like to know what goes into a wine, this one is a blend of Sangiovese (70%), Cabernet Sauvignon (15%), Canaiolo (10%) and Cabernet Franc (5%) grapes.  This is the perfect wine to serve with main courses that include both red and white meat as well as with pasta dishes and meat entrees.

The Pertinace Barbera d’Alba D.O.C. is an intense red wine that is made with 100% Barbera grapes from Piedmont, Italy.  This makes for a great tasting wine with fruit flavors of blackberry and black cherry as well as a little spice.  This is a great wine to serve with grilled or barbecued meats or any kind as well as with roast meats.  At the other end of the menu, if you are serving a cheese board for dessert, then this wine will also work well with it.

Whites

As the name suggests, the Schloss Johannisberg Riesling Gelblack Qualitätswein Feinherb is a German wine from the Rheingau region.  This is a classic 100% Riesling grape white wine that has a refined taste of white flowers, pear and citrus.  Riesling wines tend to be a little sweeter than other whites such as Chardonnay without being a sweet wine.  This makes it a perfect pairing with light summer salads as well as roasted chicken in any form.

Rose

Sparkling rose has quickly become the go-to wine for summer parties – the combination of its fun pink colour and easy to drink taste has made it popular for everything from a gathering in the garden to a cocktail party.  The Gratien & Meyer Cremant de Loire Brut Rose is made from Cabernet Franc grapes and has flavors of strawberries, blackcurrant and raspberries.  The pink salmon colored wine is perfect with fish or white meat and is also ideal to serve with dessert or simply enjoy on its own.

Something different

If you are holding your party on the beach or somewhere away from home, then Bollicini Brut and Rose single serve cans are the perfect solutions, meaning you don’t need to carry around bottles of wine.  This sparkling Italian wine has a light and crisp taste while the easy packaging means that you can enjoy it anywhere.  Pop it in a cooler and take it wherever you go and then simply pop it open to enjoy – straws are optional!
